The Developing Children’s Connectome Project (DCCP)

The Developing Children’s Connectome Project (DCCP) is an exciting new study which will track the development of all participants who previously took part in the Developing Human Connectome Project.

The DCCP’s key research goal is to further the current understanding of the association between brain, behaviour and the environment during a key stage of development that has not been fully studied by any other major neuroimaging study, from 5 to 10 years of age.

Ultimately, our findings will provide novel insight into how much of an individual child’s vulnerability to learning difficulties and mental health problems, or resilience to potential harmful factors, is determined by pre-existing, even pre-natal, brain development, and what is susceptible to influences later in childhood. This new knowledge is essential for the identification of the most vulnerable children as early as possible. It is also crucial for guiding future strategies to optimise educational and well-being programs to support the development of all children.
